Living in America as an Asian American

Reading “ They called us Enemy” reminded me a lot about my life and how I grew up. Growing up as an Asian American my community was mostly Asians so I had it more manageable while others had it much harder. This reminded me a lot about my life and how I grew up here. Going to school and other places where there are fewer Asians I do feel less of my element. But I knew I had to live through it because this is America where there are all different types of races which makes us so special. But seeing that we are all special, not everyone has the same view as you do. Others may see you as an immigrant that came to the states to leave your messed up country or others just hate you in general because of your race. In the novel seeing how they get bullied and treated is not right at all. But if it wasn’t for their integrity I don’t think Asians will be respected here and I wouldn’t think I can live here feeling normal. Ever since the pandemic happened more people hated Asians because of the origin of the CoronaVirus. These attacks and hate crimes are not acceptable. First of all, the people that live here have nothing to do with the creator of the virus because it originated in another country not here. If our race causes something it doesn’t mean we’re all like that. You must see the good in people before seeing something that changes those thoughts. Leaving your house every day and you see someone you cannot assume right away their bad or else it makes you have the mindset that everyone is evil and wants to harm you. Positivity brings great passion, with a positive mindset you are able to see the good in the world while everyone else sees it as a horrible place to be.
