As I read They Called Us Enemy, I realized how much of an impact World War II had on Japanese Americans. They were completely unaware of what was happening during the war and then when they finally got information on what was happening, the United States government was telling the Japanese Americans to either pledge their loyalty to the U.S. and fight in the war that they had no idea about, or pledge their loyalty to Japan and show that they weren’t true Americans.

After World War II ended, Japanese Americans were still treated poorly. The racism and hate toward them still continued and caused a rough life for the Japanese that had immigrated to America. Not to mention the difficulty that they had in finding a suitable job and place to live, just to have it all stripped away from them because of the war. World War II made life difficult for Isamu Noguchi. He was an artist that started the main idea of play mountain, a playground that had no rules and where children could express their creative thoughts. But when World War II happened, Noguchi wasn’t able to continue his artwork.
