Hi, my name is Heriberto. I will be introducing a new graphic novel that i’m sure you will enjoy. It is called the New Kid, and judging from the title you can tell it will be talking about a kid that moves into a new environment. Taking the next step of moving to a new school can be hard for some people. I know that for me it was a little hard, but I slowly got into the groove of things. I’m sure that this story can help someone who is about to have this adjustment, and change their mindset towards it with this excellent novel.
Pathos: During the novel, your likely to experience empathy for the main character, Jordan. He’s in the process of going into a new school and he sees school as this horrible place he does not want to be in. His parents on the other hand, obviously don’t see it that way and are trying their best to convince their son that everything will be okay. Being that he’s one of the few colored kids attending the school, he doesn’t feel like he seems to fit in this new place. While the theme of the novel is change, it can also connect to looking towards a passion to help you guide you through your hardships. He turns to his artistic talent to navigate through his new journey.

Ethos: As much as I can say this book is great, other people seem to have the same opinion. The audience rates the book averaging at a 4.2 and people are praising this book saying how much it’s really uplifting and that it brings some awareness to the situation of moving. I can see this graphic novel also being implemented into schools and being recommended to new students that are new and hoping it can relieve some of their harsh feelings.
