There’s a Fire In the Night

Endeavors in a world green

And to the eve of spring I’ve come

My beating heart they’ve never seen

And inside hides its shaky thrum

But every beast will long to fly

And every flame will look to burn

For tears await the day they’re cried

Emotions never wait their turn

I wished to shout but not be heard

And paper ears received my strain

A canvas white that keeps my words

Companionship without disdain

A conversation free of fear

Guards all the thoughts I hold so dear

A capsule of my deepest blues

And brightest golds I ever knew

Yet this escape is not all green

For fruits are destined to be shared

And famine from the faults I’ve seen

Is satisfied by writings fair

These words a match for candle lights

A dancing life in empty night

Their fire burning comet-bright

But gusts of wind then cause a fright

And out so fast in just a breath

The fire gone with nothing left

For every body bleeds the same

But empathy revives the flame
