Becoming A Person Of Value

“Try not to become a man of success. Rather become a man of value” (Albert Einstein), a quote that stuck with me for a while. I always held myself to a very high standard, I mostly believe I did this because it was how I was raised. I’ve always been held to a certain expectation so that formed into a bad habit of mine. Whenever I didn’t do as well on a quiz as I wanted, if I didn’t perform well at practices, or if I just didn’t feel motivated to do anything. It would get to my head, I would think I lacked vitality. I would overthink and doubt myself which caused me to fall behind in some classes. Worst of all it would show me in my attitude, my emotions projected onto the others around me which caused me to distance myself from my friends and family. It’s a very low point in my life, and I am sure everyone goes through it especially throughout the school year. What really made me realize what was happening was how I was treating the others around me. I am extremely thankful for the patience my friends have to be able to put up with my antics. It is not how many achievements you have or if you have a 4.0 gpa that makes you a successful person, it’s the mindset you put yourself in that makes you a successor. Do not let inconveniences in your life falter your happiness. Everyone goes through obstacles but you have to remember those obstacles train you to face even tougher obstacles in the future. The attitude you have throughout this journey changes everything. Which is why it is important to stay positive in times where you feel unmotivated. Which is why I chose this quote to include into my writing. You need to go through failure and misery in order to learn from it, you gain experience and it adds value to your life.
