A Growing Journey
During my free time, I love to do many things such as drawing, playing volleyball out in the yard, playing video games, and editing. My favorite thing to do though is playing video games and editing. I started to play Call of Duty mobile after seeing one of my favorite YouTubers Boom the Grinder play. He was doing amazing tricks and seeing that his clips got a lot of views I would try it for myself. His editing was also insanely amazing and was inspired by him.

Once I got into the game I started to see the clips I had and organize what I wanted and what I didn’t. I didn’t realize how time-consuming this would be, during the period of scrolling through the video recordings there would be some parts I wasn’t satisfied with, and deleted them. This added to the process of getting more videos and hours. I found the experience very difficult because of that problem.

Me editing
Though getting the videos was difficult I found editing them and organizing them to my liking was very fun! Every Youtuber has a logo that people recognize when they see it. I wanted to create my own but didn’t know where to start or where to create my own. I found out about Canva and Pixar and that’s when the work began. I had also forgotten that I would need to create my own channel name and named it King Nozu. I added this to my YouTube channel and was very satisfied with it.

At first, I was discouraged from recording and making gaming clips, so all I did was play the game. The reason for this was that not everyone can be a YouTuber/media influencer. I had checked statistical reviews and saw that not even 90% of Youtubers would get more than 10k subscribers. One of my friends told me that it doesn’t matter what people say and that only 10% make it. Do what you love and don’t get discouraged by others, see the success in what you have done not others. I saw it in a new way that I shouldn’t care if I make it or not, this is something I do because I enjoy it and want to share it with others. Another struggle that came with this was my setup. I do everything on my phone and create it. The issue comes when there are certain apps that don’t work as well or when editing it’s harder to cut and animate.
When I posted my first short on Youtube as expected it didn’t get as much attention. I continued to upload and then on one of my videos I hit 2.2k views and on another 1.7k gaining 10 subscribers. I was happy and surprised at the same time that I had gotten this many views on my video. I had set such low expectations on them but they just blew my mind away. I had a few comments saying, “Good Job”, and, “Amazing Game Play”. Doing this has helped me relieve stress and find something to do. Even if I don’t go big I would continue to do this because of how much I love it. I want to encourage others who are going through the same experience to “never back down and never give up”(Nick Eh 30).
