Most of us only start gardening to start saving money by growing crops. I only started gardening to keep the plants alive after my aunt moved away and I had to take care of the plants and garden. At first, I rarely remembered to remember the plants and most of them were on life support. I started noticing that and got worried for the plants since a lot of them were either losing some color or were starting to wilt either way. Not to mention, the backyard garden looked out of control from the amount of weeds spiking out from the dirt. My mom had been bugging me for a few days to mend the garden, so I did what any sane person would do. Mend up the garden. The first time I started to fix up the garden, it was challenging since it was hard to pull out the weeds and trim the plants. Lots of sweat came out on that hot summer day. I potted some of the plants that looked like they were dying to take care of it a little more. It was a challenge for me, but it was nice to be in control and create something. That was the day where Gardening changed how I lived.

When you’re gardening, you’re only focusing on the objective of that time, like pulling out weeds or trimming the plants. This occupies yourself from the current situations in your life, you should take a break and come back to it when you’re ready. The problems your facing are always going to be there. Finding something you like and continuing to do it, allows you to keep your mind occupied and stress-free so that when you come back to reality the world, you come back with a calm and open mind. That’s how I feel what gardening does for me. The bugs in the plants and dirt scare me a bit, but it’s fun to find and watch them. Gardening helps me have a sense of relief and just enjoy what I love to be doing. It’s not only great because it keeps me calm, but I feel so proud that the plants I nurtured when became a seedling successfully grew into something my family could eat or it turned into something beautiful. Although gardening is enjoyable, It can be hard to find where to plant it, what type of area it thrives in, what season it blooms in, etc. I turned to YouTube for that type of help and I found a great YouTuber who helps teach people about plants and gardening which is “Gardeningknowhow.” My sister and mom help gardening with me sometimes and I realized it doesn’t have to be all about you improving the garden for yourself, but gardening with people who you love and care about could also be a bonding experience. I get so happy when my plant starts to grow because I WAS THE ONE WHO GREW IT!!! And with the crops that I planted that grew, I could feed my family for dinner. I could feel like I shared and helped give a part of the meal for my family to eat for all of us to enjoy. Gardening has helped me realize that nature is really a one of a kind thing, and we take it for granted all the time and not enjoying this little parts in life. Just enjoy what you have now and go out to smell some flowers!
