The Journey to Turn Weaknesses to Strengths

From the start of my life, I grew up playing soccer. At the time, soccer was my main passion. I competed in club teams, all-star teams, and even competed at state. However, my love for soccer disintegrated. I tried multiple different sports before I managed to get to volleyball. For the past year and a half, I have been playing my favorite sport. Ever since, my devotion to this sport has kept growing and growing.

My team is a big part of why I love the sport. It is very easy to create a bond with everyone on my team. I am a part of two teams, one for school and one for club. A main factor to why my team is so close is because we are already friends from youth. Some of these friends include Byron, Kyle, and Ayden.

Furthermore, I make a lot of friends playing volleyball. On travel tournaments, like nationals in Florida, or or the Championship tournament in LA, I met lots of new people. We exchanged contact information and talked a lot about life outside of volleyball as well.

A challenge I face is my height. At tournaments, I look around and watch kids, heads taller than me, walk by. Although I have this weakness, I still try to overcome it by going to the gym and increasing my vertical jump.

Overall, volleyball is an important thing I make sure to cherish in life. The sport has taught me lots of things about my future and what it takes to be successful. The main lesson I learned from playing volleyball was that you have to persevere if you want to succeed. Obstacles will always get in your way, but if you stay determined, you will always find a way around these obstacles.
