Head spinning, eyes closing, stomach turning… I need to finish this test. I turn to see that some have finished, while
others are struggling…struggling just like me. I take a deep breath and try to focus…it doesn’t work. On the last test of
the year, the one that counts the most, I thought to myself, “How can I regain my focus”? I take a look at my pencil,
glance back at my test, and draw a circle. Not a large circle, but a circle the size of a penny. Suddenly, I feel calmer
already. I then add on to that circle: eyes, nose, mouth, etc.. Now, I am in the right mind.
My “Flat Stanley”
This picture on the left is my flat Stanley. Being
really self motivated in things I enjoy doing, I ended
up creating the drawing pretty quickly. It wasn’t
really stressful to do, and I was able to be creative
with how I displayed what I do to get me through
life. However, one small challenge that I had to
solve was getting the marker to stay up without
having it bleed all over the paper. Since the marker
was too heavy for my character to carry, I ended up
tying one end of the marker to a string and held it up.
Art In My Life
Art and drawing has always been there for me. Since I was in elementary school, I could remember myself doodling all
over my math workbook. One time, I remember drawing on the corner of each page of the math workbook and
creating a mini flip book. Even though some people might think I’m off task, doodling actually helped me concentrate
and retain information better. I am not 100% sure why this works, but it definitely works for me. Whether I’m working
an assignment, or bored out of my mind, I can always rely on drawing to help me out. Honestly, it really helps relieve
my stress from school or any other problems I may have.

These two images above are both doodles I found myself
creating on the margin of my assignments recently.
Personally, I really like drawing eyes or faces since they
are the most expressive part of a person. Depending on
my own mood, my feelings sometimes affect what I put
on paper. In the picture shown on the left, it displays a
variety of expressions that can be created by just using a
pen and paper.
This is a video if you want to try doodling, but don’t know what to do.
(or draw whatever you want, it’s up to you 😊).
