Music Magic

I got my first phone when I was thirteen like most teenagers. Everyone loves their phone. There are many apps and games you can download. The most special app I have on my phone is Spotify. It’s the one place where I can listen to whatever music I want, whenever I want. Music allows me to express my thoughts and emotions by simply listening. I can escape reality for a bit which makes me feel at ease. With music, I get to admire my favorite artists of all different genres. After I find a song I really like I can obsess over it for days. Not only do I love the songs, but I start to connect with the artist. Just imagine the moment you see your favorite musician in person as they’re singing your favorite songs. This is why concerts have helped me get through life.

I didn’t like concerts in the beginning. I thought I wouldn’t enjoy them at all. I’ve never been an outgoing person so I hated dancing or singing in public. It wasn’t until my first concert. The first one I ever went to was Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. I was so nervous because I wanted it to be the most perfect day. I prepared by making sure that I knew every lyric to all of her songs. I picked out my outfit, did my makeup, and planned on getting a good night’s sleep. I even made friendship bracelets to trade with other fans as it’s mentioned in one of Taylor’s songs. What I didn’t know was that I would have to deal with summer school at the same time.

Freshman year math was a struggle for me. I took Geometry which was by far the hardest class I’ve ever taken. I didn’t pass one semester of the class so I had to retake it during the summer. My math final was on the same day as the concert so I was really stressed. I wasn’t feeling well and one thing led to another. I was behind in an entire course again and I didn’t have my picture perfect day. None of that mattered though. As soon as the first song started playing in the stadium, all of my worries disappeared. I had forgotten about all the work I needed to do when I got home. The only thing I was thinking about was how amazing the songs sounded live. Slowly I became comfortable in my surroundings and I was jamming out to every song. I’ll never forget that day in August. It’s changed my life for the better and has opened me up to new experiences.
