Procrastination is not the Destination

For some people, high school may be very stressful and hard to keep up with. Many students procrastinate and are terrible at making good use of their time. To help with this, students are able to create schedules and start goals to help them. According to the University of Arkansas for Medical Studies, creating a detailed schedule can help you finish your work on time and greatly reduce stress levels. Additionally, this will help you remember what you have studied for a longer period of time.

Another great way to keep on top of your schoolwork is to create goals for yourself. Goals help students focus on their work and provide a target they are able to strive for. The acronym “SMART” can be used to set goals that can maximize your potential. S stands for specific. Setting specific goals lets you make plans more effective. For instance, “I will study more often to ace the math test on Monday.” M stands for measurable. Having measurable goals allows you to see the progress of your work. The A stands for attainable. Attainable goals are very important because you want goals you are capable of achieving. The R stands for relevant. Meaning that goals should be set to help you with your career, job, or your future. Lastly, the T stands for time-based. Goals should always have a reasonable time limit or a deadline to help you prioritize and increase motivation. For example, “ I will lose 10 pounds in one month.”
