Manipulation is something that everybody partakes in and uses to their advantage but people use it on different levels some being extreme and some not so extreme. An example we can correlate this topic to is Othello. The whole play Iago manipulated people to hate each other and to get stuff for his own good. Roderigo was giving Iago tons and tons of money because Iago promised that he would set Desdemona up with Roderigo by giving her jewels and other stuff to try and bribe a relationship. But we see that Iago kept all the money for himself. This affected Roderigo very negatively because Roderigo wanted to drown himself when he found out what Iago had done with all of his money. But with the skill of manipulation, Iago persuaded Roderigo to give him more money and not drown himself. We see with how vulnerable Roderigo was he made bad decisions because of Iago’s manipulation. Ending in the death of Roderigo.
People may think they know stuff but there is a lot of known knowledge that is either known or unknown by a person. When that knowledge is unknown by a person but known by another person it makes that person unknowing a lot more unprotected. This unknown knowledge can lead to people getting taking advantage of. Once again Roderigo didn’t know Iago was keeping all the money for himself until it was to late. We can connect this to real life where people think they are actually doing something good for a cause or a person but once it is to late, they figure out and it either hasn’t done anything or change them for the worse.
