How Can People Avoid the Danger of “Unknown Unknowns”

Unknown unknowns are dangerous and many people can be exposed to it if they are not careful. It could be your closest friend or people you trust a lot but everyone has some unknown unknowns. Some unknowns are not as dangerous as others but the ones that are dangerous can be easily avoided. There are many examples in stories that show where it can be easily avoided if they did something differently.

First off the list is from the Shakespeare play called, Othello. Iago is the main antagonist and he always plotting people against each other. In one of the scenes, he clearly states to his partner “I am not what I am”, so he can gain his trust and tell bigger lies. This already shows his partner immediately gave him his trust and got backstabbed because of it.

The second example of this case was from an anime called “One Piece”. There was a character in the show that was one of the nine red scabbards which were the servants of Oden. All of the nine red scabbards were saved by Oden, so they were serving under him. Even though they were servants of Oden, one person was actually serving the enemy team and worked with the protagonist as a spy. I just wonder that if Oden knew that this was going to happen, he “might not have done it”. This is an example of unknown unknowns among friends. He was evil and he killed 3 of the protagonists in cold blood until he was finally defeated.

The last example from this anime is “Joker”. He was a strong character who tricked an entire kingdom into betraying their own king and crowning him instead. While he was king, he gradually made the people into toys which were forgotten once they were made. He is an example of the unknown unknowns because the people of the kingdom were serving under a villain.
