In society, there is a root of hatred. Hatred has been born into generations since the dawn of time. While society has been trying to minimize the amount of hate that goes in, there will always be hatred that comes out. Hatred is shown in many forms. Hatred is shown in the media constantly. From the news, TV shows, literature, movies, and artwork hatred is shown everywhere.
There are many forms of hatred, such as sexism, racism, homophobia, jealousy, religion, and prejudice. Racism is rooted in most media as it is one of the main concerns in the play Othello by William Shakespeare. In the play, Othello is a black man who becomes a victim of racism and gaslighting. His soldier, Iago, was a manipulator who targeted Othello as his main victim. Iago manipulated Othello into believing his lieutenant, Cassio, was trying to get with his wife. Which led him to attack his wife and set up Iago to kill Cassio. Iago tore down this society as he has hate rooted in him
Hatred is shown in the real world. From the George Floyd incident all the way to little comments. Hatred is seen anywhere and everywhere. Racism is shown as the most prominent in American society in recent history. From the Ahmaud Arbery incident where a young black male was just running in a neighborhood and got killed. Ahmaud Arbery was a victim of a hate crime. As three white people were in the car with guns and decided to shoot Ahmaud Arbery which ended up and killed him. Another victim of a hate crime in recent history was George Floyd. George Floyd was a black male who was killed by a white police officer after a report of a fake crime. Which ended up with outbreaks of protests and riots. These riots brought out roots of hatred towards cops. Repeating the cycle of hate.
Hatred in the real world isn’t just seen in the form of racism. Hatred is seen in sexism all throughout history. Unfair and unjust laws have been shown throughout history. As women get harsher punishments for the same laws. In the Hammurabi Code, women adulterers would be tied up and thrown in the river for the crime. But men who would commit adultery would not be punished in any form. Women have also seen unfair rights throughout history. Such as no right to vote, not being able to be in a workplace, no authority, and many more unequal opportunities. Many ancient civilizations would have women killed for a crime, even when a male commits it a less tragic punishment is given.
Hatred is seen all throughout history and civilization. From the sexist ways of punishing women for crimes to the hate crimes of Ahmaud Arbery. Hatred is not going anywhere as it is rooted in society. Society gets impacted by acts of hate. The acts of hate rather change the way we see someone, cause political upholds, or give unfair treatment. Hatred is bound to affect the way we see and live throughout our lives.
