Chemistry is the loml fr fr

[Yesterday’s Prompt] What was my favorite subject in school?

Robotics is pretty fun.
I don’t really have a favorite subject in school besides English right now.
Chemistry you ask? It’s okay I guess.
It’s a little boring and I get tired when 5th period arrives.

It’s also one of those harder classes
Some concepts I may not get.
Better not miss a day or you’ll be lost as well
Overall I’m not too excited for it in my school days.

I’m not a fan of having to memorize stuff
Or some crazy concept that feels like a puzzle missing a bunch of pieces.
I don’t look forward to reading the chemistry textbook- over and over again
Or having to take measurements and do more math.

Page 192 of my chemistry textbook (I didn’t learn this)

But then I start to see patterns
And make connections
See the pictures in the textbook
Some concepts are pretty intriguing

I guess it isn’t too bad-
I do pretty well by my own standards
There’s some interesting stuff to learn in that class
And actually…

It’s pretty cool learning about the elements
My teacher is great
She understands and can explain things well
I get to look at things I’ve never seen before and some cool chemical reactions

. . .

Chemistry. Chemistry is my favorite subject in school.
Chemistry is by far the best subject to exist.
Am I mad?
No, chemistry is just a really really exciting class.

I have a strong interest in how things work.
I realized that there’s a whole other world out there
Right beneath our eyes, we just can’t see it.
It’s the branch of chemistry
Branching off into more branches of science

I want to know why apples taste like apples,
Why some things explode and many others do not,
Why things are shaped the way they are
Why pee is yellow.

Why I see colors
Why some things are cold and others are hot
Why things can become other things they’re not
Why that rock over there looks so amazing

I want to know how things fit together
How everything is interconnected
Just by a few fundamental laws of nature.
How these small, unremarkable dots called atoms
Build such a huge variety of things in life.

Everything we see today is a function of chemistry. Page 127 of my chemistry textbook

Then, I think to myself:
Are we all part of something big as well?
Is the entire universe itself just a result of a chemical reaction inside a mega-big universe?
That everything we know makes up something even bigger?
I think I’m getting sidetracked.

Anyways, chemistry is fundamental.
Chemistry is what you need to learn if you want more answers
More explanations for why things work
It’s what fuels our technological advancement, really.

It also fuels my daydreams
The fantasies of inventing something new
Of exploring the unknown space
Or riding a futuristic hover board.

Everything in life has a balance
Or either it’s unbalanced and trying to balance out
Just like chemistry
It’s also the unbalanced that leads to all sorts of new things

I love chemistry.
I’m a curious person.
Chemistry
Is the class for me.

I did not just gaslight myself.
