“Bye, you guys! I’ll see y’all tomorrow!” I happily exclaimed. Then, I walk back home, quietly humming to myself. I take a deep breath as I reach the front door of my house. I quickly walk straight to my room.
I sit down at my desk and start to my homework, just trying to find a way to fade out everything else.
The minute I sit down I hear,
“KAYA, GET OUT HERE RIGHT NOW!”
I wince from those words as I slowly walk out of my room into the kitchen, head low and silent.
“Yes ma’am, did you need something?” I quietly murmured.
She glares at me.
“Why did your grade go down to a 94 percent.”
I knew this was going to get brought up.
“It was an accident, I didn’t mean to. I made a tiny mistake.” hoping she’ll believe me.
I hear a scoff
“A little mistake, you say? I guess it was my mistake that I didn’t make dinner for you today either!” as she told me, her voiced with laced with fake empathy.
I quickly nod my head and run back to my room.
Nothing ever changes. It never will.
