Life.

My Grandparents’ Home

The brown and beige two-storied home nestled in a quaint neighborhood. It’s where all my cousins and I grew up and made memories. I remember wildly chasing each other all around the house, running up and down the stairs. I remember playing hide and seek throughout the whole house always making sure to include the backyard. I remember watching Disney movies while enjoying our afterschool snacks. All the fun we had as children in this house is incomparable. As the years passed by, we all grew up, but the joy and happiness remains the same when we enter those doors.

Mirrorball

“I want you to know. I’m a mirroball. I can change everything about me to fit in.”

Society is full of standards. Some achievable, some unrealistic. One thing is sure though. Everyone wants to fit in. One side of you glistens a certain style to fit in and appear “trendy”. The other side of you glistens to please people and appear “professional”. Constantly changing to adhere to society, you don’t get to express yourself for who you genuinely are. That changes “when no one is around, my dear. You’ll find me on my tallest tiptoes, spinning in my highest heels, love. Shining just for you.” Life goes on and on and people come and go, but there’s always that one person that has your back and accepts you for you.

Lyrics from Taylor Swift’s Mirrorball

Beach, Please!

It’s a hot, summer day. Could You Be Loved is blasting from our rental, red Jeep’s speakers. The roof is off and the salty air blows in our faces. We drive along the coast and slowly approach the entrance of the beach parking lot. We snag the first parking spot we see, jump out of the car, and quickly grab our towels. Our sandals struggle to stay on our feet as we’re sprinting to the only open spot on the sand. As we lay our towels down on the sand, we smell the scent of sunscreen and hear the yelps from the ocean. Without wasting any time, we race to the ocean. The refreshing salt water splashes all over our body as we slowly begin to submerge underneath. The waves rock us back and forth. We hear the screams of everyone dodging the big waves. The sun was setting and turning the sky into beautiful colors. Dialing in on this very moment, we forget everything. The magic of spending time at the beach with your friends is outmatched.

Snowglobe

Do you ever feel like your world has been turned upside down? Life just feels like a repetitive, continuous cycle of dreariness. It feels as if life is just not on your side. Well, everyone feels like this at some point because life is hard. It’s inevitable that a challenge occurs. It may seem like change isn’t going to come, but your perspective can change everything. Flip your mindset and look at everything with a positive attitude. You have to wake up early for school each morning? No, you get to wake up and live another day. Life is like a snowglobe. When it’s turned upside down everything rushes to the bottom, but when you flip it over and change the perspective of it, the snow falls beautifully and displays a beautiful sight.

Butterfield Highschool – The place where she played her first soccer game, the place where he went to school. Scalloped potatoes – Her favorite food, his mom’s specialty dish.

Dalmatian – Her dream dog, his family dog they’ve had since he was born.

Number 2 – His jersey number, the day she was born.

Cafe Luxe. The place they randomly met. She bumped into him as he was leaving. An instant spark was born. Their eyes locked and a connection formed. He ended up staying and they conversated until the sunset. When the cafe closed, they exchanged numbers and never looked back. They were as perfect for each other as cookies are for milk.

“And isn’t it just so pretty to think, all along there was some invisible string tying you to me?” – Taylor Swift’s Invisible String
