“A New Place” 

It was an old-looking house. Like the outside was never refurbished or cleaned ever. The walls were peeling, there were bee hives everywhere, the pillars were home to little creatures and insects, and the interior was just so much worse. I moved here because my mom put me in a private school, and we just couldn’t afford it anymore. Not like I was complaining, I hated my private school. The next day was my first day at my new school. Man, I was nervous. My name was unusual to many people. They couldn’t pronounce it or they just called me a nickname. “Ali,” was one of them, I hated it so much. Sometimes I wish I had the power to change it, and create a new me. People biked past my house giving it the most disgusted look making my heart drop, but we made it work. It was home.

“A Dark Society”

“Immigranted” 

“We from Vietnam,” my mom says to the neighbors. “We just move in, not long ago, nice to meet you.” The neighbors looked at us like we were aliens or something. My initial thought was, “It wasn’t that hard to understand, right?” My mom spoke pretty decent English, decent enough to understand, maybe this neighborhood was going to be trouble. The reason we were introduced to these neighbors was that there was a street party going on, and we wanted to get closer with the neighbors and see how they were. It wasn’t a good first impression, but we hoped we would make it work. All the other kids had e-bikes and expensive-looking devices. I was stuck with my iPhone 5, with a home button. But my mom on the other hand had the recent phone, so I asked her for it and took off, so I didn’t seem out of place.
