Am I an Animal?
She sits on her bed, head tucked in arms and legs clutched close to her chest. All she can hear is the pounding of her head and sniffling. She feels the tears drip down her face to her neck. The past week’s events replayed in her head as she wept in her arms.
Everyone’s eyes are upon her as she sits down at a desk, the curious and judging stares of her peers made her feel uneasy. She looks around the class, everyone with their blue eyes, pale skin, and light colored hair. While she stood out like a sore thumb with her tanned skin and dark hair.
She thinks to herself, “Why am I so different from everyone else? Why do they look at me like I’m some sort of animal at the zoo? Why? Why?”
At school the next day, she tries her best to get through the day, when a little girl walks up to her, “Hi! Want to be friends?” the little girl said. She was taken aback by the little girl’s confidence, so she asked, “Why ?” The little girl looks at her confused and responds, “Because you look lonely and I want more friends!” She looks at the little girl with curiosity, “Why me? Isn’t it better for you to make friends with other people in our class?” The little girl laughs, “I see no point. We’re all the same aren’t we?”
She takes the little girl’s words into consideration and smiles brightly for the first time at school.
“Nice to meet you, I’m Bao-Han!”

What Were You Going to Say?
“Maybe I’m just old-fashioned, read too many fairytales. It’s no wonder I’ve had no luck.” as complained as I look at my friend as he laughs.
As his laughs dies down, he looks at me endearingly.
“Lynn, your standards really are high.”
His gaze softens as he looks at me again
“Um anyways, Lynn, I’ve been meaning to tell you something.”
I look at him curiously.
“Lynn, I just want to say that I really find yo-”
At that moment the fire alarm went off. As he looks around in confusion and distress, then looks at me with a serious expression on his face.
“I’ll tell you later, just get out of here. I still need to find my family.”
Then, I saw him run off the other direction.
This would be the last time I would ever see him…

Sit with Me, Will You?
Keni looked out the window as his mind drifted away from the teacher in front of him.
A girl was laying out in the middle of the field outside, she seemed happy but tired. Out of curiosity, he excused himself to go to the restroom.
He quickly gets to the back of the school and cautiously walks towards the girl.
“Hello? Why are you just laying there?” he asked with genuine interest.
The girl suddenly jolts up from her spread out position and looks at him with a shocked expression but soon turns into a mischievous smile.
“ ‘cause I can! And why are you here?”
He looked at her, lost for words.
She laughs at his expression and pats the patch of grass next to her, indicating for him to sit down.
He reluctantly sits down and sighs feeling oddly relaxed as they look up at the sky together.

Me or You?
“I see your photos, but I got to let go.”
I look back at our old pictures wishing to go back to those days, even though I was at my worst.
I muttered to myself,
“Is it worth it, to put myself through that again?”
I sit in deep thought as I slowly go through our photos.
Again, again, and again.
“Do I regret it?”
Tears dripping down my face as I purse my lips seeing our beaming smiles in those photos.
“Do I miss our moments, or just you.”
I throw the photos onto my bed. I have to get away from them somehow. It’s time to restart and began something new.
“Because someday someone will like me like I like you…”
