In the busy streets of New York City, everybody is restless. Why? It’s because of the Circus Boys. This is an active group of boys who chase the excitement of the world.

This group of teens come from all over the East Coast and every year, comes together to perform for all of New York to watch. Each of them dreams for a chance, a chance to live, a chance to live for themselves; a chance to enjoy life.

For the Circus Boys, their happiness comes from riding all over New York City. They perform tricks such as wheelies, bunny hops, tailwhips, and whatever makes them happy.

If you see the Circus Boys during the day, they are just practicing their skills. But it’s nighttime that is special. The Boys equip glowsticks to their bikes and clothes and put on mesmerizing shows, shows that make any person want more.

It’s not just the viewers that enjoy the Circus Boys, but it’s also all the boys and girls in the US. These boys provide kids with an inspiration to not be afraid of dreams, no matter how unrealistic they can be, because, if you think it’s impossible, then it is impossible.

Who I Want to Be

Desmond T. Doss was an army medic with an infantry company during WWII. He was a conscientious objector and refused to carry a rifle into battle. At first, many people didn’t want Desmond because he would be much help when fighting. But for his actions, he received a Congressional Medal of Honor (the highest award in the army) and several medals as well.

But what did he do? He single-handedly saved over 75 people from Hacksaw Ridge in Okinawa. Hacksaws Ridge was a hillside that could only be mounted by the army with ladders. Desmond brought over both injured American and Japanese soldiers down to the army camp medic. And he was saving lives without food and water, without a gun, all alone with the enemy soldiers actively searching for him.

In the future, I want to go into medicine. I want to have a passion that is always evolving and to be able to grow as a person, but I never had a good reason. But I found one – to be like Desmond T. Doss.

I want to be a doctor.

I want to fight for what I believe.

I want to save lives.

The Endless Questions

“What are you eating?” It’s a popular question I get asked all the time cause I’m Indian. Most people where I live don’t know much about Indian food, which makes sense. But once people inspect my food, they ask the second most common question, “How come you don’t eat meat?” I usually say that I don’t eat meat because of my religion because it’s true, but occasionally I say something random to the person for personal amusement. I always catch people gawking at my food (for good or bad, who knows) but I don’t care cause it’s the taste that matters. I do wish sometimes for the questions to end, but I don’t think that will happen anytime soon.

Because I am vegetarian, I get asked the third and fourth most asked questions, “Have you tried meat before? And if so, did you like it?”. To my knowledge, I have tried meat four times, all by accident, and don’t remember the taste. There have been a few people who have asked If I want to eat meat, and I say no just because it feels weird to eat something I have been told “don’t eat” my whole life. But whenever I am alone, I always wonder would my life would be like with meat. Would I like it? Maybe.

Personal Stress Relievers

  • Family: No matter the day or time, my family always supports me in everything and helps decrease my stress.
  • Badminton: This is my go-to for having fun with friends competitively.
  • Orchestra: The calm setting of playing an instrument with others helps me forget about my troubles.
  • Boy Scouts: Getting to go camping and going on High Adventure Activities is a blast.
  • Chemistry: My favorite subject so I am never bored.
  • Fortnite and Clash Royale: A way for me to get mad at something other than school.
  • Riding my bike: It’s just peaceful when the wind blows on your face.
  • Socializing: Going bowling or to a restaurant is never boring and is also fun.
  • SLEEPING: I LOVE SLEEPING!

With a day full of work, doing any of these activities just allows me to take a deep breath, and continue the high school grind.

I’m Scared

I’m scared. I’m scared of spiders. I’m scared of spiders and wasps. I’m scared of spiders and wasps and the dark. I am scared of spiders and wasps and the dark and dolls. I am scared of spiders and wasps and the dark and dolls and disappointing my parents. I give up. I’m scared.

Why do we feel scared? I don’t want to be scared. I want to be brave. But can you be scared and brave? I would like to try, try. Is it possible to conquer fears? If so, how? Should I “just not be scared”? I don’t know anymore. I’m scared.

My friends, they can help. They can help fight my fears with me. They are brave; I think they’re brave. But what if they share my fears. What if they can’t help me. What if I am all alone? Am I strong enough? Will I succeed in life? I’m scared.
