Stories: A Collection

Tiny Traces

It was mid. September, and all through the house, all the creatures were stirring, even the mouse. It was a busy day, filled with work, and no play. Yet with one another, the work was finished on that very day. One was a hodgepodge, and another in the garage. With all being split, the house had little wit.
And all of a sudden, with a pattering pitter. A scream rang out, long before dinner. A piercing call echoed through the house, it left all with a question about that small mouse.

The fears lept alive, happy to thrive. They entered the minds and filled all with a bind. The mouse ran about, scared by the shout. And with that flutter of footsteps, the mouse darted out. Out and away, to the world full of hay. Farewell and good day, was all he had to say.

Tears

“Hahaha! Catch me if you can!” I teased.

“Gah! I almost got you!” another kid exclaimed.

Ring ring. Ring ring.

“Hello? Bzzz Yes, this is he.”

“We are calling to inform you that …. We apologize for ….”

“…”

Please contact us at a later date to set up a time for the ….” Click.

“… Time to go!”

“Aww. Can’t I stay another 5 minutes? Pleeeeease?”

“No, we need to go now. Come on.”

“Ugh, fine.”

As we boarded the car after saying goodbyes, I noticed a somber atmosphere surrounding us. It was almost like a cloud of dread hung over our heads and weighed us down by the second. My father turned to face me with a look that told me everything.

“She’s gone.”

There. The words were out. The terrifying words were released, the one I had been fearing for a long time. She had been tired lately and was higher up in age. But with just a few words, the sudden reality loomed over us.

And then, as if it had happened then and there, right in front of our eyes, we truly understood what that meant. The strong, caring, sometimes strict, but always dependable man I had known my whole life was shaking. And for the first time in my life, I saw him cry.

New Life

“Sweet dreams are made of this

Who am I to disagree?

I travel the world and the seven seas

Everybody’s looking for something”

I wish I had a dragon, my own ferocious creature to protect me

Me, being and adventuring knight and traveling the world

Seeking more action, more adventure

Someone to be with, someone to meet

Something to have, Something to need

Somewhere to be, somewhere to go

Anywhere but here, please, Anywhere but here

“Oh, sing with me, sing for the year

Sing for the laughter, and sing for the tear

Sing it with me, if it’s just for today

Maybe tomorrow, the good Lord will take you away”

“I dream on

Dream a little, I’ll dream on”

The Task

Fortunately, the interview went well. Unfortunately, the job site closed down. Fortunately, the employee found new work. Unfortunately, the work was long and didn’t pay well. Fortunately, there was a side gig open for extra cash. Unfortunately, it was an impossible task. Fortunately, a friend was ready to pitch in. Unfortunately, the friend died on the way. Fortunately, volunteers came to assist. Unfortunately, they didn’t finish the work. Fortunately, tomorrow will come. Unfortunately, tomorrow will come.

Lost

Zoro vs directions in Dressrosa

“Man, are you stupid or something? You can’t go in a straight line!”

“Shut up! It was a tiny mistake, I’ll get it this time.”

“There isn’t anything tiny or wrong about it. I told you exactly where to go and you went the wrong way 20 times!!”

“Maybe if you were better with directions we would be there already!”

“It’s not my fault. You can’t go anywhere properly if it kills you!”

“Then figure it out yourself. I’ll get there all on my own, you’ll see.”

After about 5 minutes of running around, he finally arrived back at the place they had just split up from.

“You’ll never get there at this rate, just let me take you.” the other one peeped.

“Ugh, fine,” he said, not realizing that he just made a big circle.

“TURN AROUND! How are you already going the wrong way!?!?!?”
