Dog Teeth

My dog has always been great to be with. We’ve had her for over eleven years and she’s still healthy and energetic. She’s been able to keep up with us even with a breathing problem and everybody in our family cherishes her. However, our one regret was not brushing her teeth enough. We’d often forget and only get in a brush twice every month. I remember sitting on the couch and watching a tooth fall out. She ended up developing gum problems. I remember when she lost two teeth in one week. When we took her to the vet for another life threatening issue, when we got her back she was missing almost all of her front teeth leaving only her canines. I wish I could’ve cared for her more before her smile changed.

Taste Test

Not too long ago, my friends invited me on a trip to Vegas and we had a room all to ourselves. For most of the entire trip, we were mainly independent meaning we got to do whatever we wanted while we were there. The top things on our priority list were the Coca Cola and M&M store. We never would’ve been prepared for the horrors inside. We were interested in the idea of the ‘Around the World’ soda taste test where we got a tray of various sodas with a sign telling us which one was which. We thought it would be a fun idea to order the two trays and rank them all on a tier list thinking it was a bargain since it was only twenty dollars. It never dawned on us why it was only twenty dollars however. We got our trays and we all tasted the first one, it was terrible. We moved on to the rest which weren’t bad but nothing good. What caught our attention was the Cucumber Sprite flavor which we all agreed would be the worst flavor, we’ve never been so wrong. We move onto the second tray and the first flavor Beverly doesn’t stand out at first and I was the first of us to try it. As I took a fair gulp, I really felt it. The only way I can describe the flavor is that it tasted like the juice at the bottom of a garbage bag. I kept it on my tongue as it tortured my tastebuds knowing the only reasonable options were to spit it all out or to bear it and swallow it. I decided to gulp it as I felt the horrendous mixture touch the back of my throat and tongue making me gag and cough almost making me vomit on the scene. We decided to pay five dollars to one of my friends to drink the whole thing and all I have to say is that he felt miserable for the entire day. In the end, the best thing on the tier list was ironically the iced tea.

Drinks

My family a few years ago used to own a relatively small restaurant which did pretty well. Everyday after school, my dad would drive me there so he could run some errands there while I’d hang around there for hours. On some occasions, I’d be there with my cousin who was a bit older than me but we were still good friends. He ate weird food combinations like ketchup on bread but we would always sit at a table and eat plain bread and he’d always drink a cup of water while I’d drink soda. I always knew he drank water since he didn’t like sugary drinks and his dad didn’t want him drinking soda either. I always wondered what made him dislike soda so much so one day I got a sprite and he got water. The cups were a bit cloudy so it would be hard to notice the bubbles and the ice cubes would slightly conceal them to the point where you would need to pay attention. I knew this so when he wasn’t looking, I switched the two glasses and when he took a big gulp of what he thought was water and the sound was like the shotgun of a sneeze as he spat all of it out immediately onto the table with some of it blowing from his nose. I knew the carbonation would surprise him but I didn’t expect it to get him that badly. I felt a bit bad as he was quick to dismiss it as just grabbing the wrong drink even though they were very obviously switched. Excluding that one experience, I’ve still to this day never seen him drink a drop of soda ever again drinking only water and occasionally apple juice

Highway pup

Eleven years ago, my dad brought a small puppy home who we named “Lulu” and our family has kept her ever since. However, my dad likes mixing details and stories up when telling us key things about them like how he and my mom met or some of his refugee stories. When telling us how he brought Lulu home, he told us three stories. One of the stories obviously being the truth but I enjoyed this particular story that he told us the most. He told us how on a particular rainy night, he was driving on the highway on his way home from the shop he owns. He owns a small coffee shop that he still owns to this day and was driving in a large Ford truck making it hard to see at night without the headlights. On his way home on this particular night however, he made something out in his front view window and thought it was a deer or raccoon he was close to hitting. He got out of the car to find that it was a small black puppy so he scooped it up with a towel from the truck and brought it home. On his way home, he called my mom telling us about the dog and whether we should keep it or not. My mom is someone who does give in with a bit of persuasion so she agreed and he brought her home for us to keep. This is the most unrealistic story compared to the other two that he told  us but I found the idea of my dad mistaking her for a raccoon was funny so I’ve stuck with that story since.

The House Across the Street

Before I moved away, I lived at my original house for about twelve or so years and I knew most of the neighbors there. A while back, on the first day of elementary school, I walked on the one-way sidewalk home and there was a girl I knew from my class walking on the sidewalk across the street. We walked until I reached my house and they stopped at their house which were straight across from each other. One day, my parents arranged for me to visit their house for a bit while it was convenient. While I was there I saw that they had a giant projector screen covering the entire wall along with every new game console at the time. I thought it was the coolest house ever since growing up, I never knew you could actually buy video games since I always thought they were inexpensive or impossible to own. We were best friends for almost seven years until I moved away and I only saw them again twice.  I still think that to this day that they have a really cool house.
