Othello Final

How do you differentiate whether or not someone in your life is real or just there?

A lot of us struggle with people being fake or being two-faced and I feel like right now people are a lot more fake than before because you could have this friend that you’ve been friends with for years and they’ll backstab you without any problem and to be honest I feel like nobody is real, not just to people but also to themselves.

A lot of the time it’s hard to find a real friend because usually, they’re telling you what you want to hear, not necessarily what you want to hear but telling you what you’re thinking, they’re constantly feeding into your delusions, and never point it out how sometimes you or the other person might be in the wrong. Iago for example tells Othello what he wants to hear by saying “He hath, my lord, but be you well assured, No more than he’ll unswear.” This pretty much feeds into what Othello is scared of so Iago can end up getting his way.

There isn’t an actual way to know if someone is real or fake before talking to them but you just need to go into the conversation and be able to have your own thoughts and your own thought process and block out what people have said or what you’ve heard about that person and make your own opinion on whether you think that person is actually genuine or not.

At the end of the day, no matter what you’re going to learn things from people whether they’re fake or real. A fake person will teach you how to be wiser and a real person will help be dependent on yourself and teach you self love.
