The human mind and body is durable. We seem to constantly be fighting for our right to thrive in our modern world. However, the world in which we live in has only become more and more modern as we stray away from nature. Instead of our base instincts: fighting, hunting, and gathering, we put on business suits and let politicians and CEOs control our every move.
So what happens when you’re forced back into your animalistic foundations? When, for weeks, days, years, maybe even the rest of your life, all you can rely on is your innate instinct, how do you return to the civil world?
“After experiencing horrible and brutal conditions, how can people return to everyday society?”
Well, all you can really do is adapt. Nowadays, therapy and medicine are common (though expensive, in most cases) remedies. While they’re not fool-proof cures, it’s the best we have right now.
It’s a big jump; one minute, all you can think about is holding onto tomorrow– then the next, you have to get a job, listen to your superior, sit behind a screen for hours and hours on end, all while the trauma weighs down on your shoulders as if the atmosphere has gotten heavier around you.
But you must carry on. All that, just to sit down and give it all up? You fought to live, and you did. There will never truly be a solution, no medicine or therapy will fix everything.
The only way to win is to prove that nothing can stop you.
