How does war impact societies, and people, does this have an impact on the way life is lived afterward?

In many ways, war has never been peaceful and normally leads to hundreds of deaths in the end which affects, societies, communities, people, and daily life in general. It has led to mental effects years after from warfare, loss of loved ones, homes lost, or many other possibilities. According to the National Institutes of Health, “Long-term physical and psychological harm to children and adults, as well as a reduction in material and human capital.” Which in short terms, causes trauma to the human mind. The way war treats soldiers on and off the battlefield isn’t so great either. From books like “All Quiet on the western front,” you can see how the main character’s mindset changes and his heart gets hardened over time, so by the time he goes back home he isn’t the same person he used to be and this effect still goes on in a soldiers life long after. Outside of war, people are still being affected mentally and physically. There most likely will be some economic trouble after or during a war if the government doesn’t pay any attention besides the war just like how it was right after WWI when the stock market crashed and the bank had no more money to give out since the civilians were all scared they were going to be homeless and have no money, which made them face high unemployment rates and a decline of industrial production. Have no fear, People look back on history to ensure that the same mistakes don’t happen twice.
