The Harmless Lie?

Can a white lie help you and others?

I think so. There’s nothing wrong with telling your friends that they look good in a new outfit, even if you think they don’t, right? Everybody has done it at least once in their life. Whether it be to protect someone’s feelings or avoiding unnecessary disclosure, there are many reasons why somebody might tell a white lie. It won’t do any harm, right? However, once you start, there may be no going back. The lies can start to pile on top of each other like dirty laundry until it turns into a bad habit. This can lead to misunderstandings, which then can lead to conflict.

If you are lying to protect someone’s feelings, that is not allowing room for improvement. It is better to give them constructive criticism, rather than false reassurance.

A quote from James E. Faust says, “When we tell little white lies, we become progressively color-blind. It is better to remain silent than to mislead.”

Not only that, but it can also cause people to lose their trust in you. Once trust is broken, it is very difficult to gain it back, And all because of a white lie. Maybe next time rethink what comes out of your mouth. Even if it seems like an innocent lie, don’t do it.
