The Transition of Youthhood to Adulthood

What differentiates your youthhood, enjoying life and playing around each day, from your adulthood, working and sustaining yourself for life, other than the obvious looks and age? Maturity is the main thing. Maturity varies from each person whether you are an adult or a youth. Some adults aren’t close to as mature as some kids. This can happen because of different upbringings in life or having to be a part of something that forces you to grow up.

In life, people are more fortunate than others, people have better opportunities for things compared to others, people don’t have access to certain things, etc. All of these components can cause you to have a different youthhood and cause you to have to grow and mature quicker. For example, some kids in different countries don’t have access to an education. They have to go straight to working a job. This forces them to have to learn and mature faster than a typical kid in their youth. As a result, their youthhood is cut short and they begin to adjust to the life of an adult.

Life also brings different circumstances that can change your life completely. This is shown in the novel All Quiet on the Western Front. There is a group of boys still in their youthhood who are influenced to join World War I. They end up taking that leap, and their whole lives are changed. They are forced to grow up and adjust to warlife unless they would be faced with death. Because of this, they forcefully enter their adulthood and say, “We are not youth any longer”.

Youthhood and adulthood, a kid and an adult, it seems simple. However, it’s deeper than just that. Youthhood can be taken away from a kid in a blink of an eye, sometimes, whether they want it to or not. While still a part of youthhood, we should live every moment like it can be taken away. After all, it can be taken away from us whether we want it to or not.
