War is an extremely controversial topic to many people, as some believe in it and some don’t. The answer to the question of “Is war useful,” can be taken different ways. To the soldiers fighting in the war, it is not useful. To the leaders and rulers who don’t have the risk of dying in the war, the answer may be yes. The topic of war brings up the essential question; “What makes rulers, leaders, and people in power so selfish when it comes to war?”
To answer this question, you have to think about the aspects of someone selfish. Someone selfish does not care much about others, is self-centered, and does things for the greater of themselves. Rulers in war do exactly that. They truly are selfish, and they really aren’t putting themselves in a soldier’s shoes… but what is causing them to act like this? There is no definite answer as to why a ruler may be selfish, but it is along the lines of their ego. Why do rulers need to conquer new land? Why do rulers feel the need to destroy a whole nation? What drives a leader to feel the need to do such things? In war, there are millions of innocent young men and women who have families that love them. They have husbands and wives, sons and daughters, and parents who may never see them again. But the rulers seem not to care. A whole nation is in the hands of a single person in power, and it is often times abused.
The tragedies in war override the benefits by 10,000%. As a world, we need to unite and come together, not divide and separate. If we all allied together, no one would have to die in war.
