Why Should We Care About Soldiers?

“Do soldiers feel as though they lack the purpose to live after experiencing war?”

Why do soldiers maintain such high status, and represent so much. Was what they did even valuable? It isn’t about what soldiers have done for their nation that makes them so respected, but the things they have done for their families and the sacrifices they have made to protect the nation which encompasses the things they believe in. Being willing to fight for what they believe in is why they are truly respected. Through the sacrifices they have made they have suffered detrimental damage. Even if the damage to them is not seen it lies hidden in their skull. Victims of war have always existed; soldiers have only just begun to see the vulgar consequences that the new technologies have on new recruits. After sacrificing so much and living to tell the tale it is almost as if they are still with the lost generation, near their comrades on no man’s land. Do soldiers feel as though they lack purpose to live after experiencing war? It is a harsh and bitter question. How do we help these soldiers that are lost with their comrades in spirit, but are physically here? Is it possible to restore them to functioning happy individuals from the trauma they came back with after watching their closest buddies die. I don’t mean to sadden you but this is a topic with a slippery slope. I wish the best for soldiers recovering from the trauma that was caused by war and shell shock which might have come with it.
