Would a Stone Crumble when Given the Chance to be a Wall

Authority. Everyone wants some, right? Everyone wants to choose their paths and sometimes others too. If you had a choice for everything that you’ve done in your life, it would undoubtedly be drastically different. If you had a choice to go to work or school, your own authority would most likely choose no, right? If the moment would present itself, would you snap at the chance to get even a snippet of authority? When animals see their prey, they go for it. When humans have a want, they will claw at any chance that will give them what it is.

The feeling of being in authority changes people even if they don’t see it. Their habits and behaviors change, likely for the worse. The way that someone felt under authority contorts their opinion on how they feel about it. Acknowledged or not, when in power, they are most similar to the thing that they felt so strongly against. Just like students saying they would want to be a teacher only so that students would like them or so they could provide a better experience for them. It never turns out the way that that they think it will. Either the students dislike them or they are too focused on being liked that they aren’t actually teaching understandable material. Similar to parents, a good amount of children say that they don’t want to turn out like their parents, but they turn out exactly that. If not exact, a clear display of their habits.

All these behaviors are engraved in your brain, they’re like habits. They say it takes 21 days to get in and out of a habit, but once it’s out, is it really? They haven’t really been flushed out of your system have they? They have just faded over time and when the moment comes up, reverting back to them is an automatic response. When given authority, you behave the same way, the same way that you tried to avoid.
