Things keep other things moving, everything has a cause and effect. A battery keeps our technological devices on, a heart keeps animals alive, and engines keep the drive going for cars. And like cars, people need a drive; a drive to keep someone going. When someone has a dream or a task they have to do, there is always some kind of thing keeping them going, staying determined. But what is this thing that keeps us going? What is our engine?
Well it’s kinda different for everybody; everybody has their own motivation and reason to keep going. For some people, it’s money, friends, fame, love, IT COULD BE ANYTHING! For some, it’s even the idea of not knowing what could happen. For Vin Diesel, it’s family, for Batman, it’s vengeance, and for Darth Vader, it’s power. Your drive could even be evil, as long as it’s what keeps you determined. But sometimes determination can blind you. Some are blinded by their motives and leave them completely oblivious to their world.
But what happens when your fuel runs out? What if there’s no gas station nearby to refuel it ? Or no mechanic to repair your engine? When that engine is out, you’re left with no drive, and stuck in your little rut. Or on the side of the road. Your desire to do things is gone and some of your work could be meaningless. But there’s always another way. A zebra fish once said in a movie once, “You got yourself in there, you can get yourself out.” If you have lost your determination to do something, you can always get it back. You can try asking for help or try new things; try to give yourself that spark again. Maybe you enjoy making music, drawing, making people laugh, writing, etc. IT COULD BE ANYTHING. You could call your trucker friend to help or you could check your trunk for that can of gasoline if kept there for the past 9 months. Once you have that problem fixed, you can keep driving with that refueled engine and continue moving forward with that newly found determination.
