As I walk into the front gates, I begin to notice all of the fun festivities that are laid out for the annual Baron Playday. There’s a popcorn station, bubble station, chalk art all over the ground, and so much more. It’s a lively view compared to the typical, monotonous morning walk-ins to school. As I glance around at all the fun, the bell suddenly rings and everyone makes their way to class.
Sitting in first period, I wait until I’m finally able to go out to have fun with my friends. I hear the yelps and other sounds of excitement through the door that my teacher left open. Comparing those sounds to those of the quiet, boring classroom makes time go by ever so slowly. Until finally, Ding! Ding! Ding!
It’s now time for second period. That goes by slowly yet again. And then we have third, also slow. Two grueling hours of boredom. Until, at last, it’s time for Baron Play Day! My friends and I all get to participate during the same period, so we all correlate to meet in the popcorn line. The smell strengthens as we inch closer to the front. Slowly but surely we make it there, and get some delicious, buttery popcorn to snack on while we walk around the other stations. We pet the cute dogs, doodle on the ground with some chalk, and take in the fun around us. Having to sit at desks constantly for close to 6 hours a day gets repetitive and boring. Getting the time to enjoy the fresh air and sunlight outside is taken for granted. It has never felt so good. If only we get to have days like these more frequently.
