Day in the Life of a Play Day

A day where you can go out to play with dogs, horses, friends, and even your own imagination is one like no other. First of all, what is play day? Play day occurs twice a year, from period to period. You can only attend this special day if your teacher signs up. From personal experience, it is usually a rare occasion where I get to go. However, when I am lucky enough to be given the opportunity to play, I definitely make the most out of it. There are a variety of activities that will entertain you from morning to night. A time where play day was most special to me was during the first semester of my sophomore year.

“Shawn! What periods are you going to playday,” Nikki, one of my best friends, asks me as I am walking to my first period class.

“First period,” I exclaim back.

“HAHAHA! I have it for all my periods,” grinned Nikki. My head shifts downward in sorrow, but I was determined to make the best out of my one period of fun. My first period is the class where I have Mr. Theriault, one of my favorite teachers. As soon as he yelled out to go out and have fun, I bolted out the room. It felt like I was The Flash with the speed I ran out of the class. I met up with my friends and we all agreed to play with the bubbles first. The bubbles are one of my favorite activities. It feels as if it activates my imagination, and I can think of the bubble as any shape I want. We then decided to go to the corn hole station. My friends and I laughed and laughed as none of us had made a single shot. It felt as if our friendship has leveled up 10 points from this moment. Next was the pet station, where they had horses and dogs. I am normally scared of dogs, but something about being with my friends gave me a sense of reassurance that nothing bad would happen. Then it happened.

“BLING BLONG BLING BLONG,” the bell sadly rang notifying us that the period was over. I walked back to my class as slow as a sloth to soak up the rest of playday with the time I had left.

I thought to myself, “I wish play day could be for the entire day instead of just one period.”
