Fred was a snake. He weighed approximately 0.5 grams and was 8 inches long. If you can’t tell already Fred is a small snake. He lived in a little hole under a large redwood tree in Northern California. It’s very cold up there so Fred wears the sweater that his mom made him, it is green and purple and has hearts all over it. All the other snakes made fun of him, except for Sven. Sven was a little different than Fred, he weighed 5 pounds and was a whole foot long. He lived inside a glass case inside of his owner’s, Jeremy, house. There he was warm and ate mice all day long. When the other snakes would make fun of Fred, Sven would slither over and tell them that if they didn’t stop bothering Fred he would eat them whole. Fred and Sven were 2 snakes that were not expected to be friends. One was hated by all, and the other was loved by all. This fact bothered Fred a lot, he was worried that his friend would leave him when he found someone more popular than him. Fred started going to the gym so that his friend wouldn’t leave him, and then he started to eat more mice. All of a sudden, Fred his own size and weight. Fred started to hang out with the other more popular snakes, he went to their parties, and he even had a girlfriend, Gloria.
Fred and his new friends were slithering down the road when they saw a snake, he was small and was wearing a bright pink sweater because of the cold. Fred and the snakes started to tease the snake and pick on him. Then a large snake emerged from the bushes and told them to leave the snake alone or he would eat them. Fred then realized that the large snake was Sven. He started to realize that he had become his past bullies, he was so ashamed that he went and hid in his hole for months. He lost all of his weight and became the same small and skinny snake as he was before. When he came out, he tried to go talk to the popular snakes but they didn’t want to be his friend now that he was small. Even his girlfriend, Gloria, broke up with him. As he slithered the long way back to his hole, he heard a voice yell stop. He turned around it was Sven and the small snake. Sven said, “This is Alfred, would you like to hang out with us?” Fred broke out in a smile and quickly slithered to his old friend and new friend. He had learned an important lesson, don’t trade a good friend for popularity or a good figure.
