*Whup-whup-whup-whup.* Here we go again. Mom and dad to the rescue. Helicopter parents are seen flying around very often in recent times. Parents never allow their children to do anything themselves. From home to school, just the usual. Always hovering around to make sure their children are safe. These parents might as well become professional pilots for the Redbull stunt team. Its like they’re flying a helicopter with their children attached to the helicopter by a rope. These helicopter parents should allow their children to have more freedom. The playful freedom allows children to learn problem solving skills that can only be learned. Skills like risk taking and social skills can only learned through experience. Kids can also learn how to get out of trouble from play. How would a kid learn to make friends is he or she is just trapped in a room alone? In recent years, less and less children have been found playing outside with the freedom they need. Because of this, the amount of adolescent depression has skyrocketed. Though it may seem like parents are protecting their kids from the dangers of the world, its still backfiring upon them. For example, a parents hovering over their children to watch out for the bad guys but aren’t noticing the dangers of carbon monoxide from the engine. This carbon monoxide might slowly poison their children. Being a kid, I would appreiciate if my parents allowed for me go out more. I know this would help me in many different ways in the future.
