As a young kid, Noguchi didn’t have the greatest childhood. He lived in Japan where he didn’t have many friends and he said he had a very boring childhood. He said the best part of his childhood was that he had a great view of Mt. Fuji. By his house, there was also a playground that he loved to play in. Eventually, he moved to Indiana. In Indiana, he would end up sculpting really rich people. Noguchi didn’t enjoy this so he ended up doing sculptures for fun. He made some great sculptures and people paid lots of money for them. Noguchi wanted more; he wanted to change the world. That’s when he became obsessed with creating playgrounds. He wanted playgrounds to become a place of imagination and creativity where the children have total control of the playground and get to make their own decisions on the playground. He changed the way we create playgrounds for the better and he will never be forgotten. Noguchi believed that every single kid deserved to have the right to play. He believed that play helped ease the mind and help bring a creative side to the brain. As we get older we get less imaginative and less creative. Noguchi’s goal was to create a playground that was super abstract so that kids could use their imagination and have fun with the playground. When Noguchi creates his playground he makes a piece of play equipment that can be used in multiple ways. It is up to the user to do with a piece of equipment. Noguchi loves it when kids use their imagination so that when they become older they can be innovative and help the world. It took a while for Noguchi to get his mount. He made playgrounds all around the world but he never made one like he imagined. He imagined a place extremely big that converted acres and acres of land. With a bunch of abstract pieces of play equipment. He tried many times to get his idea approved but the state of New York would never pass it. Finally, he found a place in Japan that would accept his plans and make them work. It was a piece of swamp land that was three times as big as Disneyland. Sadly before Play Mountain was finished he died. The play Mountain was eventually finished and is in Japan. Noguchi is one of the greatest architects of all time he changed sculpting and playgrounds forever.
