Matthew the Math Shark

We told mom that we would go to the library after school to study l, we nodded with smiles on our faces and left for school. At school, there are friends, teachers, pencils, recess, and homework; there’s a lot to a lot of fun things to look forward to. But I dread it, try to run as fast I can from it, I despise it. Math. It’s Math. Every time there’s a time period in class where the classroom floods with numbers and graphs and addition signs, subtraction signs, and don’t even get me started with the supervillain named X and his sidekick Y can it get any worse? Everyone else is equipped with snorkeling gear and air tanks while I’m left with a polka dot life jacket from a dollar tree, there’s nothing I can do but wait the period out and catch my breath again. There’s nothing I can do to escape the Flood. After I finish learning something graph, something like that, I finally leave the class and head for the library which is where I usually just put my head down and take a nap until mother picks us up. But today, Today was a special day, there’s talk of a forest that’s nearby that was fenced off but the kids have found an opening and my brother has found that certain opening spot. We headed there without a second thought and never told my mom. It was so cool being there, it was so different from the silence and occasional sound of the printing going off in the library. Sounds of birds and leaves and the wind blowing, it was so peaceful. My brother found a stick and started hitting me, good thing I am a professional stick find and find a bigger one. We started fighting. I might have played too hard and tripped on the root of a tree and hit my head. I remember it just going black and I saw many colors and flashes of light like what the internet says what high is like. I didn’t wake up in a hospital or anything, just my brother laughing then slowly starting to panic. I got up fine, legs working, and breathing air. We decided it was time to go home. I forgot about the homework I had and of course it’s that dreaded math. I got home to my room, pulled out the homework, but something was different. It wasn’t flooding, it was clear, like I finally installed the drains for the flooding of equations and shapes. I saw snorkeling gear and a shark. Maybe I was high. But seeing the equations clearly I somehow wasn’t. The shark named Matthew, wrote out equations and helped me solve them step by step. I was like what the heck. How is there a shark in my room helping me with math, I mean I wasn’t complaining but I rather he do this argumentative essay assigned on if school should end later or earlier. He formally introduced himself to me, he was a shark from the seas of Mathazar and was sent to me by the math gods to help me in my journey to mathisim. I would rather have a shark like from Atlantis and ride it like I’m Aquaman but a math shark is a start. I called my brother to see my new shark and was concerned that I hit my head way too hard because the only shark inside the house was the dog toy for our dog Alex. It came to school with me and followed me everywhere I went. He got bored when I came to English and history. He liked science until he found out we were learning about rocks and photosynthesis. It came for math, I was hesitant to enter the room but he gave me my snorkeling gear and we entered the specific sea. The war had been cut down to battles and we successfully learned how to do one-step equations after 2 months of learning it, this was a step on the moon for me; slowly Me and Matthew the Math shark conquered the many seas of two-step equations, geometry, graphs, and finally the cursed Z. Matthew the Snorkeling math shark was a math god send I wouldn’t have been able to pass these classes without him.
