The Humans That Could Not See Beauty

The beauty of life can be experienced and interpreted in so many different ways, according to every single unique individual. However, so many people never reach the point where they realize why life is beautiful, even throughout their hardships. Why is this? This is all due to comparisons, high aspirations, and not living in the moment. Comparing is a huge reason why people do not get to reach the height of their life because they constantly want their life to live up to or match another person’s life, who they may deem to be “more beautiful”. This takes away from our own lives, making it seem “less than” another person’s lives. In addition, high aspirations for ourselves can condition us to continuously think about how our life can be better. If we constantly think about a better and unrealistic future, we may never see the great and honorable life we have now. Speaking about thinking ahead, thinking backwards is another reason why humans never realize how beautiful life is. When we think about the past that may have happened, our self esteem may plummet, and it is difficult to realize how beautiful our life truly is.

Everything I have just described are reasons why people never see beauty in our life. However, why is it so much easier to see these things, after we lose something or someone important to us? This is because losing something we love makes us forget about comparisons, high aspirations, and not living in the moment. Our thoughts begin to circle around that one loss, and then we begin to wonder: “How would our life be different if we still had that one thing?”. We begin to think about how beautiful our life was with that certain item with us. That is when we begin to realize the beauty of life. I know it can be different to see our own life through different lenses, but we have to learn how to see our life in a beautiful manner before we ever gain these losses.
