School Playday

School playday is my favorite day of the school year. I love this day because it brings me back to my childhood days. The days when I’d play on the playground, swing on the monkey bars, and ride down the slide. The days when not a worry filled my mind; and although those days are gone, we kids are still able to relive them through memories and simply playing games like we used to.

I love how the Fountain Valley staff can acknowledge us and recognize how such a little change can make a person’s day. Baron playday is short, but it can still make my day and allow everyone at the school to have a lot of fun. Most schools don’t participate in such an event like we do. I think we are very lucky and fortunate to have a staff that cares about our mental health, and understands that life isn’t just about schoolwork. It is okay to sacrifice 55 minutes of work to cool down the mind and have some fun. As we get older, we live a day-to-day life that can get very repetitive and makes us lose track of time. Time starts moving faster as we do the same things over and over again. As we get older, we aren’t able to look back at something so repetitive because there are no memories made out of it. Memories should be made in high school, and Baron Playday is a great opportunity for students to create memories with friends and staff during a normal day of high school.

My favorite part about Baron Playday is the effort put in to organize the event. Not only are there activities set up, but there are also popcorn stations, different animals that show up, and more. I love to play spike ball during Baron Playday because that’s how my friends and I enjoy ourselves and feel like young elementary schoolers again. We used to have competitive football games at recess where I would have 30 touchdowns, 15 fumbles, and 600 yards passing, and basketball games where 30 flagrant fouls would occur. Looking back at those days makes me miss them, but getting to experience something similar with Baron Playday makes me very happy, and gives me hope for the future.
