While reading, They Called Us Enemy, I thought that if humans feel threatened, they will take the most extreme measures to combat the threat, even if it is unethical. This is shown very early in the story when the United States government decided to incarnate all people on the West Coast who are of Japanese ancestry. This demonstrates the human condition well, if we ever feel threatened we will unite to do everything in our power to eliminate that threat for good, and as a result, we start to hate the thing that scares us. This is a thought that terrifies me, if humanity is so blinded by their fears of something that they wish to destroy it, we are also capable of doing far worse. However, this could also be a good thing, if humanity is fearful of things such as racism, we can unite together to rid the world of such a concept.
This idea of uniting the world against an evil concept such as racism is already in effect in the world, but as it stands now it is not widespread enough to have a lasting effect. This is precisely why it is our duty as individuals to teach and spread this idea to the next generation to ensure that malicious concepts are eventually eliminated. We as humans can do this by, using a multitude of ways, first, we can educate people by showing them anti-racist videos found all over the internet such as “Children of the Camp”. Alternatively, you can protest, to get the message across by actively protesting we are sharing our ideas with a greater number of people around us, be it in our communities, cities, or schools. It does not matter how large of an audience the message reaches, what matters is that even if one person gets the message they can start spreading it themselves.
