On the Other Side of the Wall

On the other side of the wall, the light can be found

Away from all terror, fear, and every hellbound.

I try to reach out and feel its solace,

but to no avail, it all seems so hopeless.

O how I long to someday see what lies just beyond

This wretched cage traps me like Sakana in a pond.

However, I know that what lies homeward bound

Is on the other side of the wall, where light can be found.

I only know of what these waters have to supply

Although most of it is close to bone-dry.

As I sleep in the night, the question comes to mind:

“Why must we be so confined?”

The mere thought of discrimination just makes me boil

They forced me to leave my home and toil.

With a moon that is deep blood-red

It melts away the flashy colors that spread.

Always cutting through winds rolling quickly by:

“How can we grow stronger and faster every time?”

To embrace all the pain, anger, and sorrow

It destroys all your hope of the morrow.

Then I guess I’ll scream ‘till I can’t no more

Until my voice goes hoarse.

“Who is all of this meant for? Why do I resist?”

It’s better to not know and always persist.

We fight to stay strong and supply hope

To show how to overcome the impossible slope.

We faced so much hate, prejudice, and all the more

Just so nobody could go through what we did before.

The battle is over, and to our past we say goodbye

Like the sweet dance of the passing butterfly.

Now without a doubt, we’re all completely fond

Of what’s on the other side of the wall, where the light was found
