Racism is powerful and hurtful. It is evil as it turns countries against each other and causes havoc. People experience Racism on a daily basis and are affected terribly exactly like They Called Us Enemy. The Japanese in america did nothing wrong but our pride got in the way of seeing the bigger picture and how it affected so many Japanese. George is one of the many people that had to deal with these issues. They were violated and harassed and treated as outsiders. I feel extremely emotional about these events because one of my Dad’s best friends ( my uncle) parents had to deal with the horrendous American government at the time. They tell me stories about how they were ripped from their homes and their business. The terrible environment of the internment camps. They have told me gruesome stories on how the guards treated them. They treated them like dirt like they were from a different universe. Even though they were true Americans who had believed in the dream and wanted a better life. When they were released they had to start a life all from scratch and are better now but the way that to get to this point in their life where they are happy is just sickening. What really caught my attention when we were reading the pdf “Righting a wrong”. There was a certain section that caught my eye “How can we learn from the Past”. This really made me think about how we can really learn. I believe the key is to make sure that history doesn’t repeat itself. The whole point of history is to learn from our mistakes and learn from them and grow. This country has come so far with racism and how to stop it. We are still not there yet. Somehow even though we have a history of bad things with racism it still continues till this day. Some people don’t learn from the past and I believe that is the main issue. Some people still think they are better than others because of their race and their nationality. We should all see each other as equal and as the same. Have we not learned from the past that is the greatest question.

This the section from Righting a Wrong that really caught my attention.
