Have you had a time where you’re over everything? You just want to drop everything and just go to sleep. Or you just want to play a game and escape from all the stress reality throws at you. Well the truth is video games, or any games do help you out in general with life situations. As a person who plays video games, it does help you relieve stress and surprisingly, things that you wouldn’t expect such as developing a variety of life skills. It’s crazy how video games help us, the one thing that our parents always yell at us for. If you remember the time where you always beg your parents to have more minutes on the computer, those moments could be crucial at a point where you eventually get a lesson out of it.

One of the rules that we apply throughout our lives is to follow rules that were set up by video games. Have you ever remembered when you were a kid, playing the game tag in the playground with your friends chasing you around during recess? Well surprisingly, that game is helping you develop the lesson of to follow the rules and play fairly. Because the rules are, the person is trying to tag you and you have to run away from that person. All of us have followed those rules over time and with games in general too, with any video games played there are consequences if you don’t follow rules.

Another example of how video games would help us is to relieve stress. As a personal video game addict myself, it helps you escape reality. Times fly by so quickly that even if you started playing at 9 am in the morning, it’ll be 2 pm by the time you’re done. Even though that might’ve felt only like an hour per say. It helps get our minds off things that we don’t want to think about. I was in a relationship and I really loved who I was with. But then, I over-thought so many things in that relationship to the point where I couldn’t even think regularly with my friends. I was constantly asking them and myself questions that don’t even make sense. Yet, video games help me relieve myself and get rid of those thoughts and not think about it at that time. It helps you relieve stress severely because you’re doing the things you like too that’s so enjoyable.

So for those who have parents who don’t allow you to play video games, tell them this… It’s good for my mental health mom/dad, whoever you’re talking to. Also it can become a small career of yours and you can get the bread in $$$.
