The Idea of HATE

As I read the story , “The Called Us Enemy,” it really showed the injustice that many Japanese Americans faced during WWI. This reminded me of the present world we live in and the treatment to immigrant families or minorities that just moved to this states.

Takei’s family received lots of hate as soon as news started spreading about the bombing of Pearl Harbor. This reminded me of the racism many Asian Americans experienced growing up. Reading the story showed me a side of just jumping to conclusions. Many Americans jumped to the conclusion that all Japanese Americans were bad and the root of the problem. This caused them to be banished and hated on.

More recently in present time, many Asian ethnicity were hated upon when the outbreak of COVID-19 began to arise. Many Asian Americans were immediately discriminated causing them to be hate crimes or even just frowned upon. This greatly affected the Asian Community causing fear into their eyes. Reading through news stories of AAPI hate related very closely with the book. Many sources showed that Asian Americans were heavily hate crimes such, An 84-year-old Thai immigrant in San Francisco, California, died in February after being violently shoved to the ground during his morning walk,” just due to the way they look. Even though they had nothing to do with the problem many believed everyone was the same .
