In the book ”They Called Us Enemy”, it talks about how all Japanese people living in the United States were wrongfully treated for what happened in Pearl Harbor. The United States took every Japanese in the country and put them in camps for something they didn’t do. It was an act of hatred and complete unfairness. Most of those people had lived in the U.S their whole lives and hadn’t spoken a word of Japanese. But they were judged based upon their appearance. This made me think of my parents during 9/11. My parents are Arab and Muslim, and at the time, were living in the east coast. When 9/11 occurred, the U.S considered taking every Muslim in the east coast, including my parents, and put them into camps just like they did to Japanese people. Just because someone is Japanese and living in the U.S, does not mean that they’re the reason behind the attack on Pearl Harbor. So just because someone is Muslim and living in the U.S, does not mean they’re behind the horrible act of 9/11. These acts of hate should be remembered so that nothing similar to this will happen again.
