If I could describe my 10th-grade experience in one word, it would be “different.” This year hit me with unexpected events and challenges that I just wasn’t prepared for. At the start of the year, I assumed it would be easy, relying on my old habits and not studying as much. This method just came right back at me and effected my studying life. Though making these mistakes, I feel I have grown as a person and plan not to repeat those same mistakes next year.
One major lesson I learned is the importance of time management. While it seems obvious not to procrastinate, it is much more complex than that. With me and many others participating in sports, it significantly hindered my ability to complete assignments and keep up with my classes. Late games and long practices made it difficult, but I managed by using my time wisely. Nearing the end of the year, I can say I have learned from my rough patches. I have adapted from these situations because not everything goes as planned. Overcoming setbacks has taught me that a minor setback can lead to a major comeback. I would advise future students to listen carefully and really learn the reason why you as a teacher give no homework and barely any tests. This English class has shown me that learning can occur in many ways beyond just exams and assignments.

Despite the challenges with grades and test, I had a pretty good 10th- grade year. I met new people, grew closer to friends, and enjoyed many activities I did with them such as snowboarding, hiking, camping, and shopping. These experiences taught me that learning extends beyond the classroom and really helped me expand my knowledge. My mindset has now changed and I am not scared to stand up for others and myself and face challenges head on.
