GREAT GRANDFATHER

Great Grandfather

My great grandfather never left his room. In my grandma’s house he stayed in his bed all day and all night. He didn’t speak much. While visiting him at my grandma’s house me and all my little cousins scurried up the stairs to greet him and see how he was doing. Though none of us could communicate with him, we still liked to see how he was doing and the slight grin on his face when he saw all of us walk through the door. The occasional “hello” and “goodbye” is the only thing we could understand from each other. One day my mom gets a call and her expression suddenly changes. Even though I couldn’t understand what she was saying I knew something bad had happened. She dropped me off at my aunt’s house with no explanation and left. Moments later my aunt received a call and she started to tear up. Instantly, I caught onto what had happened and took all of my cousins into a separate room so they could continue playing without becoming scared or worried. I walked back out to the kitchen to see what had happened and my aunt told me that he had passed. The great grandfather I had never got to know was no longer with us. A month or so later the funeral took place. Gloom lingered in the room while me and my cousins sat together in the back. Most of them were still confused about the situation and couldn’t understand what was going on since they were so young. Me and my older cousin Jacob told them what had happened and a few of them started to cry. We never talked with him but he was our family, everyone cried that day.
