The Party

“I’m standin’ there

On a balcony in summer air.”

You were washing your car and my heart skipped a beat. I wanted to learn more about you, but, as my first, I didn’t want to mess it up. I thought that would have be the only time I would get to see you, but this was just the first of many. At the park exercising with your dog, the supermarket working hard restocking shelves, the library trying to be studious, and the party. The party. The most unforgettable night of my life. I

“See you make your way through the crowd

And say ‘Hello’

Little did I know”

We made eye contact and found each other, at last. We talked, and my mind is going a million miles a minute. Our conversation felt like it lasted for hours and I wondered how much time I had left. We were interrupted, and you were forced to leave. I missed my chance. The party no longer mattered. The focus was on you, and only you, and I couldn’t do anything when you weren’t there.

“So I sneak out to the garden to see you”

When you finally came out, I knew I had to do it. It was time. Ever since I first met you, there was always a lingering feeling of regret, but now, I know for sure. I pulled you in closer, and did it. No matter how charming you were, I had to do my job.

It wasn’t like to me to get to know others before the kill, but I knew you…

“…would be worth the wait”
