Why you should love your pet

[Yesterday’s Prompt] What is good about having a pet?

For those who have and love their pet, there is someone that will be there to comfort you during the harshest of times.

They do not speak with words; simply their presence is enough to make you feel better.

They don’t need to talk- they listen well. You can tell them whatever troubles you and they won’t mind. As long as you know they care for you as you care for them, you can count on them to listen to your story.

Sometimes they’ll run away and do something funny. Sometimes they make a mess and you’ll have to clean it up. But you don’t kick them out of the house; you scold them lightly or even laugh as if they were your child. They are worth it.

The difference between a pet and another human is the strong, unspoken bond between you and an the animal. An entirely separate species that is to be living in the wild is here in your lap instead- just for you.

A pet is the last piece to a complete family, the one member who you can rely on to keep you emotionally sane. They will be there, ready to receive your love and feelings. They have an endless capacity for receiving and giving attention. And they will appreciate it as you appreciate them.

It’s a mutual friendship that is not easily broken and goes beyond social norms. It’s a friendship you will remember for the rest of your life. The bond between the spirit animal and yourself is a truly unique one; a friendship like no other.

But eventually they will pass away. They’ll go when they are ready, and you won’t be able to stop it. Usually it would be your first loss. Then they’ll become part of your childhood, engraved in your memory forever. Life will get hard, but that is expected. Everything changes, and one day we will no longer have our old mentors. You will appreciate them for being there in your younger days.
