Hello?

Hello there. This is the Mojave Webpage. You have stumbled upon a collection of blog posts, each written by a student—each a piece of art that offers its own perspective, wisdom, and insight into the everchanging world of high school and beyond. Some may not say much, but they say something, whether it be through words or through effort.

This is the webpage where I write—where I document and publish my thoughts to the world. I don’t expect anyone to receive them. But I do it for me—to reach for the stars and learn their lessons for myself. I may not know it yet, but there are treasures hidden here.

We write to express our lives. We write about the moments that bother us, the moments we cherish, and the moments that have changed us. We write of the challenges we face, and how we’ve overcome them. We write so our lessons are learned and our failures are not forgotten. We write to keep track of our memories and fantasies. To explore deeper topics without becoming entangled in a mess of thought. We write to inspire—inspiring ourselves and our world.

This is what Mr. Theriault gave us.

My parents asked: “What makes this teacher so special that you would print him an entire custom lamp?”

I answer: There are many tropes of mysterious figures who appear once in our lifetime, bringing about great change at times when it is needed the most. It is a force beyond our parents, outside of home and apart from what we’ve known—the figure does not stay for long but their influence follows us for the rest of our lives. Like an angel, a hero, a mentor—this was Mr. T.

Writing was what I needed.

Mr. T

It is important to consider these experiences of our past, which shape our future. For me, it is an essential part of healing. I reflect so that my failures are not in vain. Maybe to take a step back and realize things from a clearer perspective—that things aren’t as bad as I thought they were. Or perhaps that things are actually worse and I need to do something about it. It is crucial for learning and communication, where I delve deeper into my problems and come to understand myself, as well as the world evolving around me.

It is in paper and pen (now google doc and keyboard) that keep my pain the best. It gives me clarity that my thoughts exist no matter who sees it. Sometimes I need to be heard, heard by myself, and at the same time it makes it possible for me to be heard by others. It is more than just a hobby. It is a calling.

Under the clear night sky across the vast desert, stories are buried within the sands. Or perhaps they lie among the countless stars above, untouched, reflecting deep into the unknown. On the surface—dry cactus, rocks and shrubs are scattered throughout, and it doesn’t seem like anything is going to happen. It exists though. It is an expansive sea that calls, waiting, waiting mysteriously until the end of time. Frankly, there isn’t a very high chance of anything happening.

This is what I call the Mojave Webpage, as our posts seldom reach much of the outside world. The chances of someone picking up on the other side are close to zero, but it is still there. It doesn’t hurt to keep calling. In fact, it heals even—the sky is pristine and the sands are caring, it is here I can see my thoughts own clearly. And so I will continue to keep writing, reaching into the unknown—writing me, Writing our World away. I just never know.

Thank you, Mr. T.
